Halting Climate Change​

​

Climate change is an existential threat to humanity. California has done some good things to lead on this issue, but I know we can do more and do it with more urgency. Certainly, it would be good to influence federal government to be more proactive. Leaving the Paris Accords was a disgrace. We should be past that point, and already be sanctioning countries that don’t do their part. 

 

At the state level, I support measures that other legislators are already fighting for, but there's more we can do.

 

We can be more innovative on clean transportation.

 

I also know that we can solve economic needs and climate needs together.

​

In this age in automation and wealth concentration, we are going to have to evolve a system of basic income.

​

This can be integrated with our need to halt climate change.

​

We should have much higher taxes for emissions, for fossil fuels, for meat, and for everything else that worsens the problem of climate change;

​

But this shouldn't be at the expense of the poor or middle class. 

​

The revenue from these taxes should be divided equally and given to every Californian, as universal income.
